Set up a dashboard
Choose an editable dashboard starter and replace sample metrics before using it for business decisions.
Before you start
- Sign in and have room for a new workspace if creating a dashboard workspace.
- Dashboard presets and manual editing are free; sample metrics are not connected data feeds.
Step-by-step walkthrough
Step 1
Choose Custom dashboard
From setup or the new-workspace starting choices, select Custom dashboard. This creates a separate workspace rather than silently replacing your current one.
Step 2
Compare dashboard presets
Choose a preset suited to the team, such as executive, marketing, sales, support or finance. Inspect its metric cards, chart types and tables before creating it.
Step 3
Create and review the sample data
Complete setup and select Create workspace. Inspect every metric’s title, unit, period and starter value. Replace sample values using the editing controls available in that dashboard.
Step 4
Define the update process
Agree who updates each metric and how often. Check calculations against known values. When requesting AI changes, name the exact card or chart and review before applying.
Practical example
A weekly marketing review
Use campaign spend, leads and cost-per-lead for a defined week. Confirm the reporting period and source spreadsheet; do not compare a weekly spend to a monthly lead count.
Common issues and fixes
- Numbers are not updating automatically
- Dashboard starters contain editable examples, not automatic connections to business systems.
- I only want to change the portal look
- Use Portal layout in settings. Custom dashboard is a new workspace starting mode, not simply a color or layout switch.
What success looks like
A dashboard with understood data sources, periods and ownership instead of misleading sample figures.
