Edit an existing SOP
Correct titles, ownership, placement and detailed instructions with the manual SOP editor.
Before you start
- Sign in as the workspace owner or an admin. Read-only members cannot change workspace content.
- Know which version of the workflow is correct before replacing existing instructions.
Step-by-step walkthrough
Step 1
Find and open the SOP
Search the title or open its department and folder. Confirm that you are editing the intended procedure in the intended workspace.
Step 2
Select Edit SOP
The pencil button sits beside the SOP title. Owners and admins see it; members cannot edit the shared procedure.
Step 3
Update the fields that changed
Edit the title, summary, Department, Folder, platform, level, owner, tags and steps as needed. Use one step per line and add detailed instructions, prerequisites, verification checks and notes in their fields.
Step 4
Save and read it back
Select Save changes, then read the SOP again from the library. Check the order of steps and placement. Tell teammates about important changes rather than silently relying on a new updated date.
Practical example
Replace a vague instruction
Change “Check access” to “Confirm the incoming account manager can open the client’s reporting dashboard,” and describe the exact permission and expected result in the step details.
Common issues and fixes
- The edit button is missing
- Check your workspace role. A member needs an owner or admin to make the change.
- Changes disappeared after closing
- Use Save changes rather than Cancel or simply closing the editor. Confirm the saved result by reopening the SOP.
What success looks like
The shared procedure contains the corrected instructions and is filed under the right department.
