Save a custom-domain preference
Choose a portal address and understand the separate activation step before promising a live custom domain.
Before you start
- Sign in as the workspace owner or an admin. Read-only members cannot change workspace content.
- Custom-domain preferences require Pro or Business. Owning a domain and activating hosting are separate requirements.
Step-by-step walkthrough
Step 1
Open Custom domain
Select Portal settings and find Custom domain. Confirm that you are editing the workspace whose preferred portal address you want to save.
Step 2
Enter the hostname
Enter a hostname such as portal.example.com, without a page path. Use an address your company controls rather than a domain owned by someone else.
Step 3
Save the preference
Select Save. Cloopp stores the hostname for that workspace and shows Setup required. This is a saved preference, not automatic DNS configuration or proof the address is live.
Step 4
Arrange activation before sharing
Contact Cloopp support about activation and the required domain setup. Platform-level domain connection requires the publishing owner’s action; the workspace settings do not display DNS records or complete activation. Keep using the existing app address until activation is confirmed.
Practical example
A company portal address
Save portal.example.com for your company’s workspace. Tell the team it is a requested address until the owner-controlled hosting and domain setup is complete.
Common issues and fixes
- The domain still shows Setup required
- That is expected after saving. There is no automatic connected-status check in this workspace preference control.
- I want this address for a public website
- The standalone builder’s /site/ publication is separate. Saving a workspace hostname does not assign that domain to a built website.
What success looks like
A valid saved domain preference with clear expectations about what remains to activate it.
