Build a website

Create an unpublished standalone site from a template or an AI brief, then inspect it in the editor.

Before you start

  • Sign in to your account and open Websites. Website content is separate from private SOP workspaces.
  • Templates are free; an AI website build uses 1 credit.

Step-by-step walkthrough

  1. Step 1

Open Websites and name the site

Select Websites in the workspace sidebar. Under the creation area, enter a business or website name so the new site is recognizable in Your websites.

  2. Step 2

Choose a template or write a brief

Select a free template if its structure fits. For AI, describe the real business, audience, pages, services and preferred tone. Provide facts rather than asking AI to invent credentials, testimonials or prices.

  3. Step 3

    Build the unpublished draft

Select Build my website for the AI path, or choose a template. The new draft opens in the editor; generation creates a draft, not a public launch.

  4. Step 4

    Inspect all pages before publishing

Check navigation, section text, photos, prices and button links. Replace every template placeholder. Save the site, and leave it unpublished until you have completed the publishing guide.

Practical example

A local consulting website

Brief: “Create Home and Contact pages for our HR consultancy. Services are policy review and manager training. Use our supplied wording; do not invent client logos or case-study results.”

Common issues and fixes

The template shows prices or claims I never supplied
Those are starter examples. Replace or remove them before publishing; they are not verified facts about your company.
The AI build fails
Check your credits and connection, then try a clearer brief. A free template is an alternative starting point.

What success looks like

You have an editable private website draft, separate from the SOP portal and not yet public.
